I was going to get my name engraved on the National Weekend Overall Champion trophy soon. Anyone know who won in 2007, 2008, 2009? Seems a shame not to have all the winners on it. 2001 John Houlihan Thanks |

It was indeed Jimmy Taylopr as I found this on the Keswick Bikes website. Karen who do I send any claim for engraving to? Not got it done yet but planning on doing so soon. Also would Jimmy Taylor want 'Jimmy Taylor' on it or 'James Taylor'? Anyone else know his preference? National Trailquest Weekend 2007 The National Trailquest weekend was held on the 2nd - 3rd of June at Thornbridge near to Bakewell, Derbyshire. Having had a disappointing result at Glentress and having missed the Nidderdale event due to a clash with the Fred Whitton Challenge, Chris Hope was keen to get a good result and improve his overall position in the national league. The event on the Saturday was the only 5 hour event in the national league, so it was the main opportunity for riders favoring long events to make their mark. The event area covered a lot of road and good bridleways, so despite Chris having never ridden the area, the navigation was not too difficult. After a brief look at the map, Chris thought that the 'clean-up' was on but reserved judgment until approximately 1 hour into the event. It then became evident that providing he didn't have any mechanicals or make any mistakes that it was just a matter of how fast all the check points could be collected, and whether anyone would be faster. Unfortunately Jimmy Taylor was 2 minutes faster but both Chris and Jimmy were awarded a win and gained 100% for the event. A good result. |

Just put 'skinny lad' on it. We will all know who it is. |

Mark, send the bill to me. I think that after so long, BMBO will cover the cost, but this isn't a precedent. Do you think we should go back further than 2001, I might have my name on it more is we do? But at my age, I can't remember. Was there a National Weekend before 2001? Thanks for sorting this out Mark. |

I've got a Natianal Trailquest Champion 2000 paperweight on my desk. That was for winning the Vet Pairs event with a much older mate. The National Weekend was somewhere west I think. The event centre was an old sheep shed. I think Gary Thompset rigged up some sort of mobile disco from his car on the Saturday night. But I'd gone home by then. Can't remember who won the Seniors - possibly Gary. Anyone else remember that one? |
