World Champs Middle Final
Posted: 25/08/11
Today the World Champs Middle Final moved south of Vicenza to a small village called Pozzolo, which is nestled in the Italian hills.
Courses were shortened yesterday so the winning times were almost back within the recommended margins!
In the women, Helen Clayton was the top performer of the day in 39th place, with Lucy Harris 4 minutes behind in 46th. Emily Benham suffered a freehub failure at the first control and was unable to pedal (back wheel has now been replaced!). All three women are ready to race in the relay tomorrow with Benham on first leg, Clayton second and Harris third.
In the Elite Men class, Ifor Powell had a reasonable race to finish in 56th, while Chris BB was 52nd in the Junior men after struggling to get into the map reading on the technical courses.
