For the relays the event moved further south to Alonte, near to the sprint race tomorrow.
With no men's team, it was up to the women to put in performances!
Emily Benham was riding first leg and after yesterdays mechanical, was focussed to have a good race. Coming through the spectator loop in 2nd, Switzerland were 30secs ahead and Lithuania/Italy 30 seconds behind. A small error on the final loop saw Benham and Scaravonati (ITA) fighting up the final straight to change over. With the Italians closer to the finish, Benham took a close 3rd on the first leg in 54.35.
Helen Clayton took over from Emily and had a really good race and was flowing well through all the controls to bring the team back in 7th with a time of 64minutes. Helen says 'It's fantastic to Orienteer really well, everything was flowing so well today and I was riding with the other women for most of the course'.
Lucy Harris went out on the anchor leg and bought the team home in 9th place after racing in a time of 67 minutes. 'I made a few mistakes around the course but only lost a few minutes in total so I'm really happy with my race'
