European MTBO Championships

The European Championships and the last rounds of the 2011 World Cup in Mountain Bike Orienteering are being held on the Baltic Coast North of St Petersburg, Russia.
A team of 4 UK riders have travelled out for the week long competition.
Ruth Sheddon, Iain Stamp and Andrew Douglas make their international debuts together with Mark Stodgell. Following a model event and training day where they will have to get to grips with a new Russian electronic timing system the first event is the Sprint final on Monday to be held in the town of Vyborg near the border with Finland. The Terrain will be a mixture of heathland, parks,urban old town alleys and streets promising exciting racing with lots of opportunities for navigational errors.
Tuesday sees the Middle distance race with the relay on Wednesday. The Championships culminate with a mass start long distance final (one man relay) on Friday.
