Congratulations……….Winners 2012
As incoming Chairman I would like to take the opportunity to say well done to all of the class winners in the national leagues for 2012.
The leagues ran for the MBO Score and MTBO disciplines through to the end of October and through to the last event in Sheffield two weeks ago respectively.
So here goes……
MBO Score:
Well done to the overall National winner, M40 class winner and local competitor to myself, Andy Conn. Andy clocked up 995 points in his best 10 events, a great total from a top GB rider. Next nationally, in second place was the M50 class winner, Graham Fielding with 935 points. Graham is the publicity lead for BMBO and another top GB rider so if you ever have any ideas please drop him a line. In fourth place nationally we find Ray Morriss, winner of the M60 class on 863 points who was followed not far behind in 7th place nationally, by young Max Vesty and his old man, winners of the Generation class on 845 points. Not bad riding for a lad just 14 this year!
Outside the national top 10 but still national class winners were Andrea and Steve Foster in the X50 class, Keith and Lynne Brydon in the X40 class, Sheila Pearce winner of the W40 class and Karen Blackburn winner of the W60 class. Jonathan Ellis was the winner of the M21 class, Peter and Samantha Leight the X21 class, Jenny Sutton theW21 class, Anne Plant the W50 class and young Jonathan Williams the Y18 class.
Well done to all. So these are the names to watch out for in 2013, could you be challenging these national winners in the league by accumulating a good score from your best events (maximum 10)?
Now onto the National MTBO league. Overall Male rider was Killian Lomas who also won M40 class honours. Overall Female rider was Charlie Somers-Cocks who also won the W50 class honours. Other class winners were young Edwyn Oliver-Evans who has only just turned 17 who won the M18 class and also had his first rides for GB team this year. Andrew Douglas took the M21 class win; John Rawden took the M50 class whilst Pippa Archer won the W21 class. There were a number of classes where there wasn’t any qualifying rider in the league who had ridden enough rounds.
Well done to all of these National winners. I urge everyone who enjoys MBO Score events to look out for MTBO events to go along to and give one a go. Even though these are shorter events the challenge of the map reading and decision making against the clock gives you quite a buzz!
I’d also like to say a big Thank You to Tony Brand-Barker who took on the challenge of compiling and for ever updating the league results through the season. I’m pleased to say that Tony is currently carrying on this task whilst functionality within the BMBO site is being developed to compile these leagues within the site itself.
For 2013, the criteria looks like remaining the same for both leagues other than that the MBO score league will run from November 1st 2012 through to the end of October 2013. This will enable those who have more local winter qualifying events to ride in more qualifying rounds. The best ten events will count in the MBO score league where the events have been a minimum of 3hrs long and electronic timing has been used by the organisers. There may also be a minimum number of events to qualify for prizes which we will clarify very soon when we update the website. Only BMBO members will qualify for any awards and prizes in these national leagues and the leagues will be available in one form or another via BMBO member log in area on this site.
As new Chairman I am looking for sponsors of the league for 2013. If you have any suggestions please feel free to drop me a line via chairman@bmbo.org.uk
