Event Report
Gosforth MBO Score//
////
////
//Happy New Year to everyone hope it was a good start to the year trudging round in mud and puddles up to your axles.....................well how else are you going to burn all those xmas calories off?//
////
//After riding the event area on the Monday in perfect conditions we thought a clean up could possibly be on the cards, but after putting part of the check points out on the Thursday after torrential rain and bit of a thaw it was obvious that it was going to be a struggle to get round half the course!//
////
//But hats off to everyone who competed, some interesting routes and high scores were achieved. As far as I can recall everyone said they had ‘enjoyed’ themselves, I think this was due to the major lack of cycling that’s been going on because of the snow and icy conditions.//
////
//So overall winner and first in a fiercely contested category was Sir Strong with a total of 400 points, so here is the order of controls he visited://
//6, 13, 21, 1, 16, 7, 17, 18, 24, 4, 14, 11, 10, 25, 5, 20, 3, 15, 19 & 23.//
//Second overall and second in the vets category were Julian and Bernard with 390 but six minutes late which put them on 383, their route was nearly exactly the same except in reverse. //
//Joint third overall and first in their respected categories were Kevin Hodgson (boys) and Alastair Silver (super vet) with an excellent 370 points.//
////
//Due to lack of entries some of the categories were grouped together so girls and super vet female were grouped with Jane Hornsby taking first with 249 points and a close second with Sarah Taylor on 243 points.//
////
//Only two entries in the master category with Phil Morgan winning with 300 points. A late entry to the mixed category, turned out to be a winning combination with John Bird and Karen Burn taking first with a very good 301 points and two of a select few that ventured to the top of the map which takes a bit of commitment due to the size of the event area.//
////
////
//So with the usual punchers, snapped chains and over-the-bar stories there were no major mishaps or complaints (which Andy and Myself were dreading) therefore a big thanks go out to all who competed and to Number 2 Bob and George for collecting the check points.//
////
//Hope to see you at the next event.//
////
//Bob and Andy.//
