Event Report
NYMBO Update – August //
//Harwood Dale & Broxa Forest MBO Score //
////
//I thoroughly enjoyed my ride as, although I was non-competitive, I was trying hard again. I rode 5k further than I had at Malham in an hour less so I really enjoyed the area. It had everything with quick travelling through the forests, cracking open bridleways, stunning views and prolific nettles near Broxa!! Dave had planned a great course and the splits make interesting reading. Unfortunately I still can’t update the NYMBO pages so they are available at www.eborienteers.org.uk then open the White Rose results page. The basic results are on this site.//
//There was a big choice to make at the start and there was a fairly even split between heading west on the A171 then into Harwood Dale forest or heading down the minor road then up into Broxa Forest. Then the big choice was deciding how many valleys south of the escarpment to visit. Surprisingly, not too many people were late despite the finish being at the top corner of the map.//
//Thanks as usual to the helpers who make the event run smoothly and to Jens for another excellent map. //
////
//Congratulations to Andy Conn who won overall despite being definitely unwell. Alan Hartley made a rare visit across the Pennines and rode well for second overall. Great rides from Edwin and Tim to win the Generation class again in fourth position overall. Dave Evans and John Rawden had to share the honours in M50 just ahead of Mike Nayler while John Dixon got it right in M60. Sheila Pearce won W40 but had to settle for second place overall behind Ruth Shedden while Chris and Ralph just managed to beat Andrea and Steve Foster by 1 point in the battle of the mixed teams.//
////
//Unfortunately, a few riders took a short cut between #15 and 24. They have had the points deducted for the control they visited second as they used a path across a field between the forest edge and the bridleway. Please remember that while we can use any marked tracks in the forest we can only use bridleways and roads outside the forest boundary. Also, someone left a gate open near #28 so some sheep wandered into the wrong field. Fortunately, the farmer was disappointed more than angry but it shouldn’t have happened so please make sure that you close all gates behind you.//
////
//John Dixon hasn’t had time to update the league as these results are only just available and we are still waiting for the Malham results but with only 2 events left it will make interesting reading. I will post them on the BMBO web pages asap.//
//Muddybums have sponsored the end of season T-shirts and will be at the rest of the events so please support them. Tony is also organising a Hoody Competition with a free Hoody as a prize for the best slogan and design. Please send yours directly to tony@muddybums.org.uk //

//The next NYMBO event will be at Dalby Forest on Saturday 17th September followed by the Moors Marathon on the Sunday. //
//Don’t forget the next NEMBOS event this Sunday at Wark Forest which is the final event of the season. Please stay for the prizegiving which will take place immediately afterwards. There is an extra event which isn't in either league at Driffield Airfield on Sunday 25th September. There will be 4 different courses with starts at 1pm after the orienteers have finished running. Details are on this web page and at www.halo-orienteering.org.uk//
