Event Report
111 riders enjoyed the course planned by Frank Appleton. It was the ideal length as Andy Conn just managed to clear up so everyone else probably got their highest scores of the season. Thanks to Dave Evans, John Butler, Karen Clark and Steve Roberts who helped Frank and me put out the controls on Friday. Frank was taking it easy after his heart attack but, as you could see, he is recovering well. Sorry that #22 was put out at the path junction instead of the bend 100m further west and hope it didn't spoil your ride. #17 was in the right place although the description could have been clearer. Thanks as always to the helpers - Barbara Willis, Jess, Becky & Sandra Appleton, David & Isaac Paley and Dave & Sue Relton - who made everything run smoothly. Thanks also to the control collectors who were getting wet as you were driving home - Will & Sam Wilson, Chris & Ralph Defty, Dave Evans, Steve Langron and Bob Macdonald.//
//I thoroughly enjoyed my ride as usual but only stayed out for 90 minutes as I had tagged all of the control sites in August. It was great to see the other competitors heading in totally different directions. The views from Crosscliffe were spectacular as usual and I enjoyed using some of the Red route to good effect. Unfortunately, most riders in Dalby use the marked routes now so lots of the smaller paths are becoming overgrown.//
//Andy Conn obviously chose a good route to win overall but Andy Massey wasn't too far behind with Dave Evans (M50 ) in 3rd place. Kris Smith won M21 and John Dixon is coming good at the end of the season to win M60. Sheila Pearce was the highest scoring female rider and it was great to see close competitions in X50 and the Generation classes with Steve & Andrea just pipping Chris & Ralph while Adrian & Nathan just beat Richard & James.//
//The final event is at Sawley near Fountains Abbey next month and lots of classes have still to be decided. M21 is between Rob Harrison and Rik Thompson, M40 is probably down to Conrad Ellison or Andy Conn, Only 1 point separates John Rawden and Mike Nayler in M50 and it is the same gap in M60 between Dennis Jacques and John Dixon. In X50 Steve & Andrea Foster will have to battle it out again against Chris & Ralph Defty although the Defty's will need to score 82% to overtake Steve & Andrea. All of the other classes have already been decided so t-shirts will be awarded to the winners with prizes for the leading riders at Sawley village hall on October 8th. //
//Unfortunately I still can't update the NYMBO web pages although they are back online. The results are on this web page and you can see the splits on the Eborienteers web pages at //
//http://eborienteers.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/index.html//
//The next NYMBO event is an MBO Sprint event at Driffield Airfield on Sunday 25th September. You can orienteer in the morning then ride one of 4 courses in the afternoon.//
//Hope to see you there or in October.//
//Cheers//
