Event Report
Hi everyone, just to start with why Cats Cracker, well 13 years ago in the earlier years of Trailquesting CATS MBC (Cats Mountain Bike Club) decided to put an event on between Christmas and New year, some said we wouldn't get any riders but now in our 13 year and in all conditions our event continues to grow in popularity.
Well the event, it was our first use of the SI kit and overall has been a great success albeit not without a couple of panics, well it was our first time.
As an organiser you want to have a great event, well we put out all the on road CP'S out on the Friday leaving the off road until the Saturday so as to be able to give accurate updates on conditions, well when I saw/heard the weather forecast for Friday night my heart sank, 3-5cm of snow, as it turned out it did snow heavily but then turned to rain leaving some off road sections difficult to say the least but on overnight we had quite a hard frost which came to our rescue followed by a bright clear blue skies Sunday morning.
As you can see from the results Phil Upton and Mark Rowley managed 19 out of 24 CP'S which was fantastic and some achievement, followed by Jeff Mew, Mark Morgan, Ben Windsor and Sion James on 18CP'S.
We had several very positive comments from less experienced riders that putting the highest scoring points near the HQ meant that they could get a credible score with the feeling that the higher scoring riders had to plan their route more carefully to get a good score. Personally I think this is the way to go for all events. Have a close look at the closeness of points in each category and overall.
A big thanks go out to all my helpers and Jeff Powell Davies for helping us with some of the finer details of the SI kit.
Every year CATS MBC try to put on a free good spread of savoury and sweet food (cakes baked by our club members wife's) and as much tea and coffee a you can drink, this year donations for the food was £99.30 so a massive thank you to all.
All proceeds every year (entries and food donations) from the event less expenses will go to a nominated charity which this year is Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
So thank you for riding, and please continue to ride events from Midlands MBO an organization on just formed this year.
