Event Report
Many thanks to everyone who entered the latest round of the Black Mountains MBO series. We had a good turnout with 39 riders. 33 solo and 3 pairs.
The weather was very kind to us being dry and sunny on the day and for setting up and collecting in the course. Generally the trails were in great condition and you had to search quite hard to find any gluppy mud. As a result there were some impressive scores with Marcus Pinker visiting 24 out of 25 controls and still had a few minutes to spare! A great effort. There were two queries with CP12, but it was still there and in the right location when I collected the controls back after the event.
It was rewarding to see that the top 8 riders all chose quite different route options. The start at the Babbington Centre was well placed being pretty much in the middle of the map which gave a very wide route choice. Thanks for the positive comments about the course.
Apologies as unfortunately we only had one toilet working on the day. I had been assured the refurbishment was going to be complete at the start of September, however there were clearly a few delays.
Thanks to Alex Kennett with help with the start and control collecting and to Sion James for his help with setting up the event timing and getting the instant results to work on the day and for arranging excellent catering. Always really nice to have some good food and a chat after the event.
We had just over £70 in donations which have been passed on to Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) who provide water and land based rescue services in the Wye Valley area.
Looking forward to the next event back in the heart of the Brecon Beacons at Talybont on Usk, October 4th.
