Event Report
Great to see a bumper turn-out in the Forest on Sunday, it was great to see so many new riders and hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did setting it up. Despite forecast earlier in the week prophesising blankets of Siberian snow we did pretty well again, in fact it even surpassed the short-term forecast of light rain (thanks to Garn Wen and the Goats for those in the know). Some of the trails where a bit sticky but I think if you kept to the red/black routes and cycle paths you should have been ok.
Sorry about the malfunction of CP11 and all those that declared it on the day have been credited with the score, the manual splits are a bit out so don’t take any notice of your split to and from 11.
Well done to the overall winner Michael Holloway 355 M21 , who after a visit to the 30 pointer on Crab Tree Hill executed a classic ‘Buffalo Girls’ route (round the outside) only dropping the 4 x 10 pointers in the middle. Second and third place went to Ifor Powell 340 M40, and Mark Morgan 335 M50. Both had very different routes but only 5 points to separate them.
The Other results were:
G - Gareth and Jesse Davies - 119 (bit of inter-family rivalry there me thinks :-)
W21 - Emily van der Heijden – 197
W40 – Vanessa Lawson – 200
W50 – Nicky Griffin – 215
W60 – Shirley Robinson - 197
M60 – Nick Dallimore – 330
M70 – Pat MacLeod – 195
Mixed - Ainsley Berryman/Valerie Berryman-Bousquet – 175
2017 Winter League
I have added the League results to the Black Mountain MBO Webpage and after 2 results it is so close I had to add a 0, so now the winner of an event gets 1000 points and all the other riders a pro-rata score from that. The top three are:
Ifor Powell - 1958
Michael Holloway - 1945
Nick Dallimore - 1829
Your best 3 rides will count and all those who have ridden 2 events will be in with a chance of an Age Category prize.
And Finally
The next event will be at Rudry near Caerphilly 5th February, get your entry in by Sunday 29thJanuary and receive 10% discount and a sneak peek of the event map.
A big thank you Pedal a Bike Away for hosting us and Amanda for running the start.
Also to the Caroline & Nick Dallimore, John & Mark Morgan, Ian Kennett, Fraser Stevens and Ifor Powell who helped collect in the CPs, I will work out a little calculation to reward helpers with a free entry if they are able to help on multiple events. :-)
Once again thank you all for coming and see you next time.
