MBO Score Shield Trophy
The Inter Shield trophy is an annual event held between the different regional clubs. The aim is to promote friendly rivalry between the different regions and to encourage riders to explore new areas of the country. The trophy is organised by Midlands MBO who also present the Sheild.
Qualifying Criteria for the Shield Trophy
Any regional club that organises MBO score events is eligible to compete for the trophy. The current clubs are Black Mountains MBO, Bristol OK, Lakes MBO, Midlands MBO, NYMBO and SLOW. Other clubs may apply to join in future.
How the Shield Trophy works
Each regional Club will nominate 2 events each year to count in the Shield Trophy. The chosen events must be events that are eligible for the National MBO Score League within the same year.
When riders renew their BMBO membership they will be asked which regional club they wish to represent. Riders may NOT change club mid-season.
At each event the first 20 riders will score towards their group's total. Points will be awarded as follows: First place 20 points, second 19 points etc. This will generate a maximum of 210 points available at each event.
All rider categories will be eligible to score points.
E-Bikes will count towards their group's total in each event. However, a 25% deduction on their score will be made to acknowledge that the rider is assisted in an event.
The points scores from the 12 nominated events will be totalled to determine the winning region.
If there is a tie at end of year, then the most wins/seconds/thirds etc will determine the win.
The Shield will be presented to the winning team at first available event of the following year.
Jeff Mew and Nuno Cerqueira will be the contacts for this event. The latest trophy standings will be presented on the RESULTS LEAGUES tab of the BMBO Website alongside a list of the counting events.
British Championship Weekend - Team Shield Trophy
Following the success of the recently introduced Shield Trophy it has been proposed that there will be a team event at the British Championship weekend. The aim is to keep the format as simple as possible and the following rules have been proposed for the first year. They will be reviewed for subsequent years.
A rider will score points equivalent to their position. 1st =1pt, 2nd = 2pts etc
Positions will be based on their combined score over the two days of competition.
The first 6 riders will count towards the team’s score.
EBikes will not count.
At least one of the team must be female. If a female is not in the first 6 then the sixth rider’s score will be ignored and first female in the list for that team will count.
If club does not have 6 riders, including one female, then they will not record a score.
The winning team will be the team with the lowest score.
There will be a shield for the winning club and team listed on it. This will be updated and given out each year.
