World MTBO Championship - first medal for Team GB
Posted: 21/08/12
Great start to the week for team GB. The sprint races for elite and juniors took place today on a complex area of motorcycle tracks and intricate contour detail which favoured those with foot orienteering backgrounds. Emily Benham had a superb ride to take Britain's first medal in a World Championship event. Ian Nixon was the first Elite man in 35th place. Edwyn Oliver-Evans once again had a brilliant ride to finish 18th against riders several years older than himself. This is the highest placing by a British Junior male in a World Championship event. Watch out as he gets older! Tomorrow is the Middle distance race and also sees the Masters spring into action for the first time. Hopefully a few more podium places to be gained.
