British MTBO Sprint Championships
Posted: 15/07/13
Red hot weather greeted the riders on Penistone Moor for the 2013 British Sprint Championships. Tim Evans discovered this microscopic area which contained a maze of paths and contour detail in an old quarried piece of moorland. It proved to be an ideal venue for a sprint race and Tim, planning his first ever MTBO race provided a superb challenge enjoyed by all.
Killian Lomas once again showed his dominance to take the Overall Men's trophy with Angela Brand-Barker winning the Ladies trophy.
It was really good to see a healthy number of juniors taking part this year. Hopefully we will see them back again and again in the future.
Many thanks to Tim Evans and daughter Alice for organising and running the event. Also to Airienteers for their support and use of the map.
The next events will be in September up in the Lake District with Grizedale Forest on the Saturday followed by the British long Championship at Whinlatter on the Sunday.
Results and details of future races are on the website.
