Event Report
The final round of the Cannock Chase Series 2021/22 took place on a wet and breezy February day. Despite the weather, time of year and lack of shelter the majority seemed to enjoy themselves.//
//The series of four events, held on the first Sunday of the four coldest months of the year, went remarkably well. I feared that at least one would need postponing for Snow, ice or wind but we were all very lucky.//
//The use of iOrienteering and no village hall meant that I could plan and organise the whole thing without dragging long suffering friends and family into the fray. This has proved that it can be done despite iO not being perfect. I know there are others that disagree with the use of iO but without it we would have been 4 events lighter in the Midlands this season so I think it has all been worth the effort.//
//So on the day the competition at the top was strong and the result dictated the outcome of the series. In the end Nuno Cerqueira just pipped Rob Crowfoot to the top spot and Val Ravenhill was the ladies champion with Kate Lowndes taking the most promising newcomer prize.//
//Over the total series 50 + competitors took part and a number managed to reach all four events. We started with no ebikes and finished with 3. Mark Jeavons used his ebike and local knowledge to top the leader board on event 3, and was almost as good on the final day, so new ground was being broken there also.//
//I now look forward to competing as much as I am able over the rest of the season whether it be iO or SI.//
//Many thanks again to all who took part.//
