Event Report
The threatened rain held off and riders had a nice dry ride but, as always with Watchtree, the wind was a factor that had to be taken into account. A number of you commented on being caught out cycling into a headwind to beat the cut off time.
A slightly shorter course this week but we threw in a curved ball to get you thinking. The Watchtree nature reserve is a great community facility and we wanted to showcase it to you by placing a few controls in the grounds. This needed an inset map to get the detail you needed. An orienteering style map at a much larger scale certainly got you thinking! The next bit of thinking was whether to do the 4 easy controls in the reserve first or risk leaving them until the end. Most of you chose to get them at the beginning.
Well done to Alan Hartley, who managed a clearance with only a few penalty points, whilst Salka Hintikka was first lady. Both know lead the standings after 2 events.
Ray Morriss got the better of Ian wood this week to take the lead in the EBike class and Dave Cowgill& Claire Riley go onto the the lead in the Mixed pairs.
A massive thanks to Ryan and his team at Watchtree nature Reserve. They have made us very welcome over the years and we hope that you will visit again at a more leisurely pace to fully explore the site and see the wonderful work they are doing through the Watchtree Wheelers cycle club. Take a look at their website.
