Event Report
Situated bang in the middle of the map was the splendid Hutton-in the-Forest Hall not that many of you would have taken time to admire it. Instead you were treated to a beautiful evening to explore some of the smoothest roads ever used by the ABC!
48 intrepid riders set off to find the little red boxes in this the 4th of our 2025 series. With smooth roads a relatively little altitude gain this event was one the longest events this year but, as always plenty of route options and controls close to the start.
The Boot & Shoe Inn was a new venue in a new area for the ABC series and provided an ideal location. The beer garden behind was the perfect place to relax and discuss your route choices over a drink and some excellent food. If only the sun had stayed out a little longer. Many thanks to the staff for making us really welcome.
On the roads it was a close tussle between Phil Winskill and Alex Reed for top spot with Phil coming out on best by just a single point!
Dave Cowgill & Claire Riley, Fiona Wright and Ian Wood (Ebike) were also top of their classes. Well done to all. You can see the results on the button below.
Many apologies for the siting of control 11. When setting the controls we never noticed the second footpath partially obscured by the circle which resulted in us putting the marker on the wrong one. Anyone who pointed it out to us was credited 10pts if they could not find it. Let us know if you were left out.
It feels like we have only just started the series this year but with just one event to go there is still lots to play for. A quick look at the Series standings on the button below will reveal how close the competition is this year. Many of the classes are to be decided on the final event.
We have another new venue lined up for the grand finale. On the 2nd July the Countryman at Lamplugh is our host and for the prize giving afterwards. Palace Cycles of Carlisle have kindly donated vouchers once again and there will be also be other goodies to win.
We will be giving out spot prizes as well but you will need to be there to claim one so why not stay behind after the event and enjoy the Crack? The Inn will be serving food and drink to replenish you .
