Another hot dry day welcomed riders to the second SLOW event of this year on the South Downs, this time located towards Winchester in Hampshire, at Holden Farm. The riders thrived in the conditions, enjoying fast dusty trails and straightforward navigation, with the main challenge being that of planning a strategy to approach the course. A clearance was deemed unlikely with the route to collect all checkpoints totalling approximately 80km, but newcomer to SLOW events, Ian Nixon managed to clock up a mighty 74km. He just ran out of time to collect the last two checkpoints and came in 10 minutes late because the direct route back home along the A272 was out of bounds and the alternative route rather longer and hillier! Fastest female of the day was Jen Hunt, placing equal 7th overall in the 3 hour solos.

The pairs category was won by local riders Kim and Adrian King, who returned to adventure racing after a break of many years. They were delighted to reconnect with fellow competitors Wendy and Sid, whom they had raced alongside in years gone by. In the e-bike category, Michael Rackham claimed victory with an impressive score, covering 65km during the event.
