Event Report
The area covered included the many little roads stretching south of Sandside down to Warton, west to Arnside and Silverdale and east across to Yealand and Holme. This gave the 150 plus competitors taking part plenty of options to consider when deciding on a route that enabled them to visit as many controls as possible within the two hour time limit. The event was planned by Phil Morgan, who unfortunately due to an unexpected work commitment was unable to attend and Rod Carter stepped in to ably organise on the day.//
////
//The only rider who visited all the controls was Mike Toyn (Staveley) who incurred time penalties to score 296, which was enough to win the Solo Men class from David Hollingham (Endmoor) 284, with four rider sharing third place Alan Hartley, David Heffernan (Ulverston), David Switzer and Tom Gibbs all with 280 points.//
////
//Anne Plant (from Pennington near Ulverston) won the Solo Women with 266 points from Jo Cleary (Heversham) on 248, and third Stephanie Jones with 245. In the Juniors Jake Mason and Tom Simpson scored an impressive 260 from second Bryony Halcrow 222. Matt and Katie Woods had a third win in a row in the Generation Pairs class with 260, from second Chris Stevens and Hannah Cleary-Hughes 222, closely followed in third place Jack and James Smith 220 points. A closely fought contest in the In the Adults pairs / 3’s resulted in just 4 points separating the first three, with Mike Brooks and Andy Beck just managing to maintain their unbeaten record of three wins in succession with 242, just ahead of second placed Andrew and Sarah Crozier with 240 points, with Jennifer Hutton and Sarah Hewitt third with 238.//
////
