Event Report
Widdop, what a great venue nothing but hills, sheep and more hills. Our hosts for part two of the summer trail series was "The Packhorse Inn" at Widdop just above Hebden Bridge. After the weather of the past few weeks we didn't know what to expect, flooding seemed to be the norm for the area so we were all pleasantly surprised to find the sun shining with nothing more than just a little wind to start the day.
Competitors started arriving around 8:00 which kept Rich P on his toes at registration, registering newcomers to Oa world (and some to the world of MBO) we had a few old faces back which is always a sign that your doing something right...competitors started heading onto the hills at a little after 9:00, by 10:15 every one was out in what by now had turned into one of the hottest days the area had seen in a a very long time.
The first finishers started arriving back around 12:00 and by 13:30 every one was back alive and well.
Results,
Leading the field was Killian Lomas with an impressive 245 points to add to his solo lead from Holmfirth, closely followed by Martin O'Hanlon/ Stewart Woodson, with 150 points in the team category, it was still a very close day with Andy Lawrence/ Sue Barber, managing even with 25 penalty points to collect 110 points. The good news for some is that Killian can't make our Ogden event!
The prise fund is slowly growing with some great items sponsored by Wheelspin Cycles, and Trophies from BAC Outdoors, but don't worry with a little help from Wiggystyle we're not forgetting the back end of the field.
Team Oa would like to thank everyone who took part, it sounds like we definitely got it rite this time, the feedback and comments that you made during download were amazing and it's good to know that we were able to implement all the improvements that you asked of us! (as an event planner it's great to here people so happy with what you planned for them!)
Registration is now open for part three "Ogden Water" more hills, more trails and after our little trip this morning a lot more mud.
