Event Report
Black Mountain MBO Series 2015
Well done to all those who took part the last Mountain Bike Orienteering event of 2015 to take place in the Black Mountains.
The weather was far better than we were expecting and despite the forecast we had the biggest field of the season. Certainly very promising as we look forward to 2016 but more about that later.
Gary Davies (M21) kept up his form by taking first place with a very impressive 440 pts from a total of 500 on offer. Nick Dallimore (M60) was second with 429 pts, equal gross score of 440 but you will see Gary’s choice to avoid the Sugar Loaf allowed him to get back with 1 minute to spare and no penalties. Not far behind in third was Mark Morgan (M40) on 415 pts and first female rider in fourth place was Clare Dallimore (W21) with 400 pts. The remaining scores are on the main results sheet.
After the event we awarded The 2015 League Trophies, we had a 6 Event Season, riders had to compete in a minimum of 3 events with the best 4 Results (400pts) Counting towards 2015 League. We also recognised the King of the Black Mountains which was awarded to the highest overall score across the whole season (600pts). The final results were as follows:
Overall Champion and M21 Winner - Gary Davies - 393pts
2nd and M40 Winner - Mark Morgan - 389pts
3rd and M60 Winner - Nick Dallimore - 371pts
W60 Winner - Caroline Dallimore - 179pts
W50 Winner - Nicky Griffin - 184pts
Y18 Winner - Ieuan Best - 205pts
Mixed Pair - Adrian Moir
Ellie Salisbury - 168pts
M50 Winner - Ian Kennet - 303pts
M50 Runner-up - Mike Manning - 299pts
M40 Runner-up - Andy Hilder - 352pts
King of the Black Mountains - Michael Holloway - 479pts
Congratulations to everyone it certainly was a ‘close run thing’ right to the end.
As normal with all our events we have organised in the past, we lay on free refreshments at the end and all we ask for a small donation for out chosen charity. Following Sunday’s event we raised just over £92 for The Royal British Legion. Thank you.
I would also like to thank our team of helpers, David Thomas, Gary Mapletoft and John Symmons for their invaluable support throughout the season and of course Amanda, Verda and Eleanor for the grand refreshments after each event, rice crispy cakes will be back by popular demand in 2016!
We hope to see you next season and dates are now on the BMBO Website. Please keep an eye out for future Newsletters as we are also looking at running some 2 hour evening events during the summer holidays and investigating hosting a big multi-day event next Autumn or in 2017.
