Event Report
Event Report//
////
//Following a dry day on Saturday whilst putting the CPs out I was in an optimistic mood as I sat at home and printed of the descriptions. That said I was rudely awakened by rain lashing against the window and thought our 6 event run of good weather had somewhat ironically come to an end as we approached the summer solstice. The rain continued as I put the carpark signs out and even as the first riders arrived to sign on it looked to be set for the day. Then as the start time approach breaks started appearing in the clouds to hail the arrival of another dry event. //
////
//It was another great set of results from the riders who took to the Blorenge on the 3 Event of the season and it was brilliant to see most were able to get over 50% of the total points on offer, you must be doing something right and also making the most of the opportunity to see the fantastic views from the top.//
////
//The top place went to 1st Mark Morgan 485 (M40) just missing CP 20 down in the bottom south east corner, follow by in 2nd Ifor Powell 475 (M40) who managed to visit all locations but was slightly late back and in 3rd Michael Holloway on 466 (M21). Yet again it was a really close event with only 4 points separating 3rd and 6th place.//
////
//Well done also to the class winners who were://
////
//G Michael and Charlie Aldous 165 //
//Y18 Ieuan Best 355 //
//W21 Carys Holloway 290//
//W50 Nicky Griffin 330 and first female//
//M50 Ian Cartwright 462//
//M60 Bernard Lamb 309//

//CP Marking//
////
//It is always a fine balancing act between marking the CPs well and countering sabotage, especially as CPs have to be placed on PRoW, unlike foot orienteering where you can place an ‘obvious CP in a less obvious location’. You will note this was the first time we used ‘Bumble Bee Tape’ instead of red & white and I welcomed all the feedback at the end and on FB later. It was noted that was a little harder to spot, but because of this we only had one tape removed. On balance we feel for the moment it’s better to have tape at the location that is slightly less obvious rather than no tape at all because it has been removed. So we will continue to work to ‘obvious location with less obvious CP’ thus making the description card even more important.//
