Event Report
With the amount of rain thats fallen recently, even a lanequest isn't certain to go ahead at the moment. Putting the controls out on saturday meant riding through 2 new Fords and 1 that had turned into a river. //
//Luckily the weather on the sunday morning was only intermittent drizzle, but most riders came back looking like they'd been in an off-road event ! There was certainly enough debris and mud on the quiet lanes to keep you focused.. //
//At the start the choice was basically to go clockwise or anti clockwise, with the highest points to the west (40 pts Lickey Hills) I expected most to head out that way, but most riders opted to head east for the more rural areas.. someone pointed out that they were a "clockwise sort of person" which is an interesting thought...maybe the reference to Hills to the west swayed peoples minds...or the draw of the "Fords" to the east.//
////
//As riders started to return I was suprised to see that most of you were finishing without any significant penalties which was either good planning or riders were keen to get back for a warm mug of tea and hot sausage rolls. //
//Many of you stayed for a while after to relax, unwind, have a chat and a post event discussion on route choice,"if only I'd...."which is always a good sign. //
//I can confirm that Sion won "the dirtiest kit on the day" competition hands down.//
////
//It was great to see some new faces (Dawn & Rachel) and some returning after being away from the sport for a while (well done Julie & Chris), but well done to all competitors who took part- its always pleasing for an organiser to see that everyone enjoyed the event and the area. I Hope to see you at the off road event on 20th March just down the road in Lowsonford, check out our website (midlands mbo) for details of all our events //
////
//Not quite a course clearance this time but 3 riders came close well done Mark, Sion and event winner Andy Hilder. //
////
//Finally a big thankyou to Phil Botting for running the Desk and to both Jeff and Phil for helping to collect the controls post event which meant we were cleared up and back home for 6pm.//
////
//Next event is the Re-Scheduled Ashby Folville Lanequest on 21st February that was originally postponed due to snow and ice. All the original entries have been transferred to the re-scheduled date, but new entries are most welcome.//
////
//Thanks again, to you all for venturing out in the damp weather, and we hope to see you all again soon...
