Event Report
Gary Davies (Event Organiser) introduced the participants to a new area for this event which encompassed the Halfway and Crychan Forests near the Epynt Hill Range located east of Llandovery. Potential routes included minor roads, forest fire roads, forest tracks, bridleways, byways and ORPAs. The infamous Glyndwr Way also featured in the event too.//
////
//The organiser had deliberately planned the event to make it impossible to clear even in dry conditions and to increase the number of potential route options. It would have taken approximately 70km and 2300m ascent to collect all 25 checkpoints – too much for even a 4-hour event!//
////
//Mark Morgan took the honours with a score of 431 (from possible 500) to Clare Dallimore’s 430 and Ian Cartwright’s 426 – a range of only five points between the top three! Each of the riders collected different checkpoints and took different route choices/directions. //
////
//For information, the top two riders covered the following distances and ascent (from Strava)://
////
//* Mark Morgan: 61km, 1800m ascent (anti-clockwise)//
